Aureon Consulting is assisting a growing Des Moines client with their search for a Network Systems Administrator. Primary duties will involve leading the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of network systems for an environment with just under 3000 employees. We need a self-motivated, team-oriented person who enjoys building relationships with individuals across the entire organization.
Must be able to work in the office 4 days per week - position allows the ability to work remote 1 day/week. No official on call rotation, may involve occasional after-hours work as outages or downed systems require.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute system schematics including installation of network hardware, software, configuration of applications, and deployment to end client
- Apply updates, patches, and configuration changes to maintain systems with minimal disruption
- Manage and assist with multiple ongoing projects
- Identify process improvements including recommending new equipment, software, and services for efficiency and to enhance user experience
- Act as the main point of contact for escalated issues that require advanced technical support
- Provide excellent customer service and explain information in a way that is easy for non-technical experts to understand
- Stay current with latest industry technology and techniques
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with vendors, both independently and as a team
- Serve as a mentor to team members to help them develop and grow professionally
- Document all aspects of assigned systems including hardware, software, licensing, configuration, vendor contacts, changes, and disaster recovery planning
- Maintain confidentiality
Required Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in the IT field
- Experience in hardware and software deployment, user support, and network management
- Ability to problem solve and think critically
- Excellent customer service skills and comfortable talking to customers/internal employees and vendors
- Desire to mentor other members of the IT team
- Self-motivated with strong time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Team-oriented
- Experience with Aruba Networks wireless and switching is highly preferred. Cisco or HP backgrounds would be considered as well.
- Palo Alto firewall and VPN experience needed.
- High level of proficiency in MS Office suite
